It’s a sponge. Scrape it off.
So I have held off touching it in fear of spreading it, will it spread or just die if it is a sponge and I scrape it off. Why can’t nature have name tags on everything lol

wont it help with silicate tho to have a sponge, I'm new 2 this so pls don't get mad at me if something I say is wrong
It depends on the sponge, but some of them would absorb silica in the tank, yes. That said, silica usually isn't a major problem in our tanks, and - in this case - a sponge actively overtaking corals could be.
