Unopened but a year old: bag of chemi-pure safe to use?

... didn’t realize I had it tucked away. When I unsealed it to rinse, I realized a large part of the non-activated carbon component (the tan & white resin microballs) has turned to brown mush. ;Wideyed

Nothing on the container instructions makes note of any expiration date or use-by date. It does say “keep sealed in container until ready for use.” Maybe it’s a bad batch. ;Bookworm

I’ve emailed the mfg. but was wondering anyone’s thoughts here while I wait for their reply. A quick google search turned up nothing, and I poked around the Search option here too. Thanks in advance.

I've used an 8 month old chemipure elite and I didn't notice any difference between it and a new pack, it's possible you had moisture ingress and that mushed it up. It's one of those things that it's probably 99% safe to use but being so inexpensive I'd just get a new one.
