Unrepairable?

Sorry that happened to your new tank! Could you post up some pics? Do you know what generation Red Sea tank this is? Some of them had issues with leaking even when undamaged.

Hi got a Reedsea reefer 425xxl seocnd hand chipped bottom corner moving it , is it now useless :(

i was thinking of getting a small pane of glass and siliconing it into the corner as will be covered with sand to relieve any pressure or it’s a write off
 
I can now see the pics posted above. It does't look horrible to me, but I'm hesitant to recommend a Red Sea tank just because we've seen a lot of failures from these tanks. And it's not like some small drip, drip, drip leak, they often fail catastrophically. You may want to do some research on these tanks and decide for yourself, especially if this is one of the older Gen 1 tanks.

@UncommonSense may have an idea for trying to repair it.
 
Hmm… this chip is actually on the inside face of the glass pane, inside the bottom silicone structural seam!

These Red Sea tanks have a pretty ugly history of seam failures and flooded houses without getting a chip into a structural seam involved….

— the only way I would consider running this tank in my home would be after judiciously bracing the interior of every silicone seam with thick (12mm-19mm) glass rods and bars!

When you note the extra pane to relieve the pressure, the pressure will be ALL along the edges pushing outward.
I've heard too many horror stories of Redsea, if it's Gen 1, I would consider it a loss. Gen 2, do some research and see what others say.

how would i know the gen i only have this sticker

Siliconing in glass for structural reinforcement has to be done very thoughtfully… normally, you’ll use both the cut edge, and face of the added glass, bonded into the interior corner(s) of the tank (after old silicone interior bead is thoroughly cleaned off the tank glass, of course!)

Measure the short vertical side panes of the tank, they’ll be ~3/8in thick (10mm) if the tank is a G1 (generation 1)

Side panes will be 11.75-12mm thick (just shy of 1/2”) if this is a G2 tank!

If it was my tank, I would want to do the every single seam on the tank, and use at least 12mm (.473”-ish) glass for the added reinforcements… ( you get thicker glass:glass structural seams with thicker glass reinforcements! [more total in2 of seam])

Not quote sure how you mean, basically replace every pane internally or rod like strips across every seam

Rods for the four vertical seams, bars along the bottom seams is the cleanest way to do it; breaking up the 46-ish inch span of the viewing pane by using two bars from front to back along the bottom ( making your seam brace bars <20in long each, thus more manageable to fabricate!)

In a perfect world, the tank would be fully rebuilt with a reliable silicone prior to adding these reinforcements, but that is a BIG job!
