Setting up a little tank in my office (UNS 60s 10 gallon) which is much smaller than my 10.9 gallon waterbox downstairs haha. However, it does have about twice as much room for corals.

Tank: UNS 60s 10 gallon 24 × 14 × 7
Stand: old nightstand
Filter: Aquaclear 50 (traded for a piece of art ive been trying to sell on "let go" for $20 and nobody wanted it) Chemi pure, purigen, filter floss
Sand: carribsea arrag alive fiji pink live sand
Rock: 1 carribsea arch, one nano arch
Heater: spare aqeon 50w
Powerhead: jaebo slw-10 (looks like a nero 5)
Salt: two little fishies accurasea 1 that i use for my other tank

Just need a light. Probably gonna get a new ai prime 16 hd since none for sale on here. Is the 24x24 inch spread claim legit?

Planned upgrades:
Intank media basket
Surface skimmer box to house and hide the intake and heater.
Black plastidip on rear

Stocking:
Corals: palys, zoas, shrooms and leathers only. (Have some ready to go from my current tank)
Fish: no idea, but just one
Cleanup crew: some belize snails forget ehat their name is (asterina i think) that my LFS "Amazing Reefs and Aquariums" (as seen on reef builders) has. These little guys move really fast at night, its crazy, they mow down. Also 3 blue leg hermits to start.
May add some sexy shrimp

Questions, comments, concerns appreciated.

Sprayed some dark blue plasti dip on the back.

Picked up a new Prime 16hd. White would not have been my first choice but thats all my LFS had. I really like it tho, blends in with the wall. Same with the metal arm, wouldnt have preferred that but it blends in more than a black flex arm would.

Aquaclear 50 is in an overnight vinegar bath

Bought a waterproof electrical outlet cover since its pretty much right behind the hob filter. Need to install that tomorrow.

Hoping to get it wet and throw in some ammonia and micro bacter start tomorrow.

what's your ATO solution for this tank?

My arm and a jug of water. Its 3 feet away from the desk I work at all day. My tank downstairs hasnt had a lid or ato for a year and a half, i top off twice a day usually to keep the flow in the back middle chamber perfect.

Got it wet a few days ago. Added some old chemipure from my other tank, a few little pieces of live rock, microbacter7, and some mysis shrimp to get the cycle started.

Got a jaebo sine slw-10, hoping to get a good flow pattern thats not too strong with it on the back wall out of the way, we shall see.

The last things i need to add are an intank media rack for the filter and a skimmer box that hides the intake. Also a small heater that fits in the filter. Some of this can wait.

My LFS has some yellow staghorn damsels that ive never seen before. Hoping they still have some when my tank is cycled.

Tank is plugging along (pun intended) noticed the zoas weren't popping any new heads out. Realized it was probably my temp. Im too cheap and stubborn to run the AC and the tank was getting up to 84/85 (2nd floor) on really hot days (weve had a few heat waves lately). I didnt think much of it cause the corals stayed open and happy, but they werent multiplying so i had to make a change. On hot days i set up a fan blowing on the tank which kept it to 80/81 82 tops on really hot days which is fine cause the heater is set to 80. And just like that they all started popping new heads within 2 weeks. Although evaporation is truly impressive its a small price to pay

Already planning a 50 lowboy to replace the waterbox, juat need to let the new tank mature a bit 20200814_120429.jpg 20200816_205053.jpg 20200813_183659.jpg

Thanks so much for posting this update! I am very interested in trying a similar tank. Yours looks great. I see you changed the lighting. Any other changes? More importantly, are you enjoying the tank and these dimensions? What are your thoughts on it at this stage?

This is my second tank so i want it low maintenance so only easy corals. Basically just going to let it grow out. Maybe add some small filler pieces once it starts to take shape more. I want it to look very natural.

Since starting the tank i started appreciating full spectrum lighting, i didnt even use a filter for those pics. Its exactly how it looks in person.

No real changes, bought a seqchem tidal since it has surfqce skimming. Not sure if im gonna use it tho. I have a nice aftermqrket media caddy in my aquaclear that holds my media perfectly

I do need to think about what fish would go well in here. The clown died (****** lfs, not my usual)

Any ideas on fish?

Hah, yeah this is exactly what I’m picturing for my second tank - a nice low maintenance lagoon. You’re blazing the trail. Though I may go rock flower anemones with sexy shrimp & porcelain crab. Going to Aquashella in a couple weeks and hoping I’ll get some ideas.

I think a yellow clown goby would probably be ideal: small, personality, striking color. Neon or Eviota gobies I’m imagining as a nice fit too. I don’t think they’re jumpers…
