Just got my new adapter in the mail from Buce, much easier setup than worrying about the piping.

Came downstairs to check the tank this morning and saw what I thought was my red fire shrimp dead stuck to the overflow, surprise first molt!

Did my first round of testing this week with my Hanna checkers.

Alk 6.4
Nitrate 2.8
Phos .08
Mag 1350-1400

Then went to LFS to have them do a test to see if I was doing this correctly and they confirmed within 10% using an all in one tester.

My Alk is certainly low but everything seems very happy and the frags are already growing. 4th water change today with Redsea Blue - tank was started with instant ocean so the alk is slowly correcting with these water changes.

Can’t keep out of the LFS so I’m sure I’ll have something to post later this weekend.

New corals, and a new purple tang starting QT.

Testing at LFS showed little to no nitrate and phos, my Hanna’s are picking up something but it’s certainly low and I’m concerned about bottoming out. Going to test again tomorrow, keeping socks pretty dirty have only cleaned them in tank water from the start but they run fine no overflowing.

Still haven’t added my fleece roller or UV will do that down the road when I start to add more fish.

Got the itch and I just can’t stop, need to pump the brakes a bit but really loving the way things are turning out so far.

Added some Gonis that seem happy, few torches, clam and some others. Fish seem ok, not too sure about this Purple Tang showing some white spots but not like an outbreak and it’s been going on for about two weeks. Still eating like a pig and seems happy but man fish are so much harder than coral…

Ever since seeing a banana torch posted somewhere I’ve been on a HUNT for a real yellow torch, finally won this on an auction from my LFS. Only 2 hours after adding it, can’t wait to see what it looks like tomorrow.

Have to admit I’m totally out of control with buying coral but the tank seems stable and everything seems happy. I’ve got a big group I’m adding today after winning some more local auctions, shout out to TIA Corals in Deer Park on Long Island!

Losing interest in fish bc of QT/parasite concerns, def could use some more fish but it’s nerve wracking to add any and I just personally don’t have the patience for a true QT process.

Anyone have experience running bigger tanks with only a few fish? I have some nitrate and phosphate but not much, feed heavily go make up for the lack of fish.

Been following along looking great. For fish wise i recommend dr reefs if you don’t want to qt yourself. Never had a bad fish from them or any problems. You definitely want to keep a balance of coral to fish when adding. So like kinda alternating fish here coral there fish here until system gets more mature and balances. With that much coral and no fish really I definitely would be dosing nitrate and phosphates to keep them up. All that coral will suck them up fast. Brightwell kind I trust. I’ve struggled in the past with lower nutrients so I alwasy think adding fish is best way. If you don’t want many fish then you’ll likely experience every low nutrients for a long time and my guess would be constant dosing of nitrate and phosphates until system really matures

That’s good start. Reef roids tend to raise phosphate more than nitrate so I wouldn’t go too crazy but definitely enough to keep phosphate levels noticeable. You’ll have great luck with the fish always great experience. What fish you looking at? Good amount of options with a 120

Fox face, Melanurus Wrasse and a Bicolor Blenny, I think that’s what I’m going to order from Dr Reef
