recently got a UNS R150 Shallow. Love the rimless tanks my last tank was a deep blue (years ago) and I love the look of the clear background. I know it’s a matter of preference some prefer the clear backgrund, some the Black, and some I’ve seen with a Blue background. Now, I’ve seen people remove the black background on RedSea tanks as I think it’s just vinyl? But I believe the UNS reef tanks are painted?

Curious if anyone has attempted removing the black background on the UNS tanks? How to even approach it if it is in fact painted? Or am I just thinking about an idea thank will regret trying to get it off, not being successful, or worse damaging the tank/ not being able to make a clean finish.

I appreciate any insights, comments, suggestions, feedback.

Cheers!

Congrats on the new tank! If it's vinyl it will peel off easily, it it's paint just scrape it with a razor blade 🙂

Good luck!

It is black paint, not a vinyl background, so it will be more difficult to remove than other tanks on the market.

Yeah I think I’m inclined to leave it. Tank is too beautiful to risk it. My hand would be trembling taking a blade to it lol
That's what I'd do! The clear background is a freshwater planted thing, most who have saltwater tanks have a black or blue background 🙂
