So I have. 90LA set up with media tower and protein skimmer, what I am struggle with now it’s the back tank water is always fluctuating but not leveled with tank water, which affects my protein skimmer.

I had my gate fully opened, I also had my retune pump dialed down to middle. On top of that, my AIO is poorly built, it tends to get stuck with protein skimmer and when it’s being slightly pushed, it messed the level up in protein skimmer.

Are there anyone running into the same issue ?

This is a beautiful tank, but to me it’s very poorly engineered.

Thanks

It’s currently going through Chemiclean treatment in case you wonder about the air pump.

I took ATO off since back chamber water level is not stable and any little bump form ATO will cause readjustment

On top of that since the protein skimmer is so close to the pump, it constantly blows small water bubbles into the tank which is not desirable.

Ah, it's the gravity-fed, that makes sense. I'm sure some people can get them to work correctly, but I'm not a fan. I can't speak to the UNS skimmer but I have run the Tunze 9004 and the Bubble Magus, I'm sure they did something but I couldn't tell you what.

I personally wouldn't ditch the skimmer and the ato. Get yourself something like the duetto and sort your nutrient issue. I think when it comes to a nano you don't really need much half the time I'm running with basically no mechanical filtration at all. Look at Danny's aquarium on youtube, he has 0 mechanical filtration and his tank is amazing.

First of all, thank you so much for the reply and suggested items and youtube, they are all great for me to start leaning more about what I can do to resolve the issues, so far the ATO drains almost daily due to 90LA tank has a massive opening, I tried to buy a top glass but realized with UNS top glass, there is no room to feed the fish and all, so ended up just to leave it on the side. if there are any other recommendations I would be greatly appreciated! Danny's aquarium is amazing !! I wish I have the experience and money to do what he does ! absolutely stunning!!

Oh, it all takes time, he started somewhere too. I would just get a 5-gallon bucket and or something similar, and a duetto ato, a lot of people also swear by the Tunze. I'm not a huge fan of the Tunze personally. I have one now and will eventually replace it. The pump is quite loud when it comes on, and I feel the pressure it exerts is quite unnecessary.

Are you testing your tank at all? What's your maintenance schedule look like?

Since I put 40 pounds of liverock in this 21 galloon tank, everything is running smoothly, water test is great, but salinity tend to raise 3-5 daily due to water evaporation. perhaps its time I look into a duetoo ato.
