I want to upgrade my reef tank I am looking at a 120 gallon setup with a frag tank connected to it. Having a hard time pulling the trigger due to my tank now being almost 5 years old and has been fairly successful. I am enjoying the stability of the tank and fairly easy maintenance. For you guys that torn down successfull tanks to upgrade how did u get yourself to pull the trigger?

Running two tanks at the same time until I’m confident that the new one is ready, and gradually transferring everything over as it matures. It takes up space, but has worked for me in the past. Alternatively I have also successfully moved all the rock sand and water from one tank to another. Just remember to remove the sand carefully and AFTER you remove the fish and coral. Because the sand can harbor hydrogen sulfide which is deadly to tank inhabitants when released.

When to mix up fish meal: When was the last time you tried a different brand of food for your reef?
