Hey! I’m looking to upgrade lights from an AI prime 16hd. I’m just wanting better lighting coverage in my WB 20 AIO. I was originally thinking of upgrading to the AI Hydra Edge 44 but I’m also interested in the Ecotech XR15 Blue.

What light would you pick if you were to upgrade? Keeping mostly LPS and zoas

One Blade Grow mounted 6-8” off the water will provide plenty of light. One 12” Grow on my WB25 AIO was enough for LPS.

The new Nicrew lights have been amazing as well. The Hyperreef or NavaReef. The NavaReef 65 is like $110 with tank mount

I was leaning towards the AI blades. They’re super slick looking, cheap(ish), and I do like the MyAI app

You can see my 3 here. Completely overkill but BRS had them in Open Box so I gobbled them up 😆

I really like it! I do have a question: is dosing ammonia easier to keep nitrates and phosphates up? I’m in a weird spot with my tank that my phosphates are .33 but nitrate is 1.0

You can’t go wrong with an XR15 blue but 2x blade grow + 1x blade glow would give you better coverage and probably better overall results.

Another 16 would also work since you already have one.
I ran 2 on my old 18" nano cube.
I run 1 xr15 gen 5 blue on my current 15" nano cube.

Ammonia is my preferred way to dose nitrogen. I find it much better than dosing nitrates

Where do you get your ammonia? Also, any calculation to your dosing?

That is perfectly explain by Randy! Seems extremely easy. Do you dose by hand daily or automatically dose throughout the day? Also, what do you normally keep your nitrates at?

I dose by hand. Ammonia is one thing I don’t think the risk reward of auto dosing is worth it. I shoot for 10ppm but my 25g constantly reads 0 even with daily dosing. I’m fine with that though since everything looks great

How much are you doing daily? I think I may try and excitement with this.
