Hi! Im new to saltwater, I'm trying out a macro algae tank So i used an old 10 gallon tank I had lying around, but now I really want to upgrade to a 40 gallon because Ive got the stand for it. Im going to be upgrading filter and such accordingly. But my very stupid question is if I would need to treat the tank as if im starting a new cycle? I'll be replacing the equipment. heater and the filter.. The rocks, sand and critters will all stay the same. (keeping filter media aswell) But also I will be adding much more sand and rock. So will I have to wait a month to add new fish? The tank has already been running for 8 months, I have 1 clown fish and one clown goby and 1 possum wrasse, lots of caulerpa and 1 xenia frag. Would it be unwise to add fish too quickly?

Personally, just me, I would feel better to cycle the 40 gallon and new rocks first, just a regular basic cycle. Once its complete, I would move the 10 gallon rocks and then fish over in one shot.

I agree this is a better plan.
