UPS Claim for destroyed skimmer

Another update. My local UPS Store just told me that UPS is requesting pictures and they are going to send them. Weird thing is that they have to do it because I shipped through them and they are listed as the shipper.

Well they denied my appeal. Can I take any further action?

So a $1200 skimmer down the drain! LOL!

Keep it going!! Don't give up, I appealed claims with the USPS all the way to the top before I got the money.

small claims court is the next option. I can't stand it when companies have such a low level of customer service. I really hope you can get something out of them. You paid for the insurance and the Fed Ex people sold it to you. That means they approved the packaging when the insurance was sold as why would they insure a package they know will fail... It's all about neglect and rough handling while the package was transferred into their care. They did not do their due dilligence to keep your product safe so they need to replace it for you.

After all I have been through with shipping issues I now take pictures of the packaging process every step so I have PRIOR documentation of how it was packaged before it hits the UPS/FedEx/USPS shipping places. It's really the only insurance I have to support my case if something happens. Those companies are ruthless so you need to protect yourself as much as possible. The days of "the customer is always right" are long gone.

Good luck!

Rev, keep appealing it. Generally it takes two appeals before they actually inspect the packaging. Generally after two appeals they pay you. But it does have to be packed well. Every time i have a claim this is what i have to do which is pretty sad since i spend so much in shipping fee's per year. This is the reason i switched to fedex. And i never thought i'd hear myself say that!

Maybe someone will eventually start a shipping company that will actually take responsibility when they damage other peoples stuff. Makes me sick how they can get away with destroying personal property but it not their fault(even thought it is).

I wish it could be fixed Troy. The whole neck of that giant skimmer was broken off.

I am going to pursue another appeal. The bad thing is that they are making the local ups file the appeal. ARG!

i can fix anything seriously rev get your money from them ship me the broken stuff and you will have a new skimmer again and have ups pay you it's a win win!!!!!! if i can't fix it i will buy it haha.....

LOL! Troy I appreciate it bro and I might take you up on it considering I am getting stiffed here.

I just tried to call ups again and get something done but they will not let me do anything since I shipped it through the ups store.

Where does the UPS store's responsibility fall off since it was shipped thru them? did they package it?

That really sucks. I have actually worked for 4 different shipping companies. UPS, FedEx, USPS, and Airborne Express before it became DHL. Most of my time, 9 years combined, was at UPS and FedEx. You would be amazed at what happens to packages. It isn't always intentional either. At UPS, a "package jam" started on a conveyor belt approximately 30 feet high in the building. Before anyone realized the situation, the packages in the jam built up behind it, stacked up, and were falling to the ground. It sounded like a bomb went off. It is disappointing how they automatically deny claims. These are very rich companies. It wouldn't hurt them to do the right thing and make customers happy. I hope it works out, rev.

It's funny. Just a few months, there was a huge FedEx bashing thread, everyone swore UPS was the best.
Now, there's a huge UPS bashing thread, and everyone hates them because they don't pay their claims.

What a surprise!

Stick with FedEx if you ever want to get $$ out of damaged packaging. My $0.02

Rev, Going through your Local Shipping UPS store will get you paid for your Skimmer as long as it was packed by them. They just paid me for the ATB skimmer they packed and broke! But they only pay the amount you sold it for reguardless of how much you insured it for. I told them when shipping that if they broke it it would cost 779.00 to replace it and they Sold me 800.00 worth of Insurance knowing they never intended to pay that amount. After speaking to an Attorney I was told that is Fraud and very easy to prove as they have a 97% rate of denied Claims even one where they ran the Pkg over with their truck and denied the claim.
You can get better results if the UPS store owner does the claim as they know how the game is played and with proper documentation i was paid in 4 weeks time. But only the sale amount not the insured amount.
Don't give up my friend as you are right and will win if you stay on them, If not take them to Court and you will get a Judgement and you can Actually put a lean on their business.
Bill

I got a package the other day with a foot print on the top of it. Nice to know they use our packages as step stools.

I have never had trouble with them paying me. How weird. I shipped some gsp over night and the person got it and it was flat. Stepped on. They paid me in a week. Might be the amount. Insurance doesnt make money if they pay every claim. Just keep on them. I bet they will pay if you keep complaining. Let know who you are and what you have here. A voice and tons of members that ship all the time. Maybe we should just know that ups is no good and that this site does not support shipping via ups because they do not follow through. Just a side note, I have been using the usps and they have been more than helpful and have not had to file a claim because of care level used.
