Was curious what this urchin is? My wife got it for me from one of the online vendors she found a few months ago as a surprise, was labeled as a tuexedo urchin which she knew I wanted, but it doesn’t look like any tuexedo urchin I’ve seen before. (Newbie to urchins)

Maybe a pin cushion urchin?
Thats kinda the way I was leaning, that’s what his spines make him look like at least, just never seen on colored like that with the vertical navy blue stripes. Had him for 3 months now and he’s like a vacuum cleaner everywhere he goes. He’s starting to get close to 2” across.

When I typed in the scientific name lytechinus variegatus. I found this picture.

Thanks Lovemyreef2015, bet it was just miss labeled. Glad to have a pretty good idea what he is now. I’ll have to remember that scientific names are a little more helpful IDing things then common names.

You're welcome
