Lol, yeah. Ran around with a clamshell work phone for a decade while having a smartphone as a personal phone.

Left the personal phone at home a lot of times depending on where we were working.

We were like happy little kids when we could carry them openly.

Wow that sounds insane but can see why if you work in a nuclear plant. Hopefully now you get to keep you smart phone with you but like you I had a flip phone forever. I only switched because of my tank and needed some internet WiFi for some things to work (well log into). But at times I really miss my old crappy flip phone.

@dantimdad based on lol your post could any of us imagine Wiley Coyote trying to run and set up a saltwater tank. All of his stuff would be by acme lol. Oh how my imagination can take me to places lol.

@rkpetersen lol oh could one imagine the damage those would do inside s home and underneath a tank. Not to mention a large tank like mine lol. Not only would I have to watch out for a missile, but falling rock dangerous corals and drowning in my own house.

I was just trying to use a little levity to ease things off and then he went off again. Never seen a Neurosurgeon behave so well.....badly. Note to self don't joke with a doctor who takes himself too seriously.

Have you made a decision to use a CO2 reactor?

I’m honestly confused on the whole thing on the calcium reactor. Now online it says they monitor and keep alk and mag and trace elements constant. However all my lfs said it only maintains calcium and they you would need to maintain the others. So that has me thinking a lot more of it only does calcium. If all three are wrong, errr that really makes me wonder lol.

I’m curious how often people feed their corals sps and lps mainly and some softies? I just finally was able to pick up reef roids (wow not cheap), but I have used other coral food and well was never consistent with it. I think running super low nutrients may may make them starve.’

Reef roids once a week, maybe once every other week. It causes cyano bad if you use to much or do it to often. Also I’m not so sure your LFS are the experts they claim to be. Calcium reactors most definitely supply every element that is in stony coral to your tank. Your just breaking down coral and liquifying it’s elements and putting it into your system.

I have a GEO calcium reactor for my new tank and I had a LifeReef on my old 140. Both good manufacturers.

One of my good friends locally is a Neurosurgeon and a great guy! I built him a couple of tanks over the years including a shark tank next to his lap pool. Kids had a blast swimming in the pool and watching the sharks swim right next to them! They also hosted a "Jaws" movie night with everyone in the pool and the movie projected on the wall. His wife is a nurse and I think we all share a morbid sense of humor due to us all being raised in medical families. She found Barbie dolls with some missing limbs and sunk them in the tank for the show as an added touch....good times and lots of laughs!:D

Block party is clear across the country....:( and now I am mostly vegan and I don't drinko_O due to life experience and choice! It does sound like a blast though! Would love to hear stories....I get to hear a few from local doctors once in a while since we are all friends and I understand HIPPA;Muted.
