Uronema in Bengaii Cardinal while in QT

So I’m on day 15 of the QT protocol and I noticed the one cardinal stopped eating as often as it was. I kept an eye on it and it was kinda hanging out by itself in the back corner. This afternoon it was near the bottom and laboured breathing. Copper was at 2.3 ppm and ammonia was undetectable. I did a 25% W/C and kept the copper level at 2.3 in the new water. An hour later it was still breathing really heavy. I turned up the air pump just to see if that would help. It’s started to list and I knew it wasn’t going to make it. When I removed it, I noticed a linear dark red patch on the one side of the fish. Coincidentally , the side it kept trying to hide. From what I’ve seen and experienced, it is Uronema. The other fish in the QT are not presenting any symptoms and are eating normally. Does this mean I have to change the QT protocol given the presence of Uronema or just finish the 30 days of copper and then Formalin treatment then if no signs in the remaining fish they can go into the DT?

These fish rarely if ever get uronema. A couple of pictures, even a video under white light intensity, No blue will be very helpful with assessment. These fish ship poorly and it can be a few things

A picture of the lesion would help us diagnose. The labored breathing is only a sign in Uronema at the very end of the infection.

Do you know if these were domestically tank raised, SE Asia farm pond raised or wild caught? The latter two sources have issues with a viral disease that infects this and a few other species.

Tank raised has been an industry issue and staying on course and keeping eye on other fish for now is best recourse

Sorry - I had just woken up when I posted, and I had missed your "linear lesion" comment. Uronema is really the only disease that causes that. Add in the rapid breathing, and I'm pretty sure that was the issue.

Internal Uronema is NOT treatable, despite what you'll read online. External Uronema, the kind that infects seahorses and sea dragons can be treated with chloroquine. Chloroquine may also help keep the issue from spreading, but really, Uronema is not very, if at all, contagious.

Sorry - I had just woken up when I posted, and I had missed your "linear lesion" comment. Uronema is really the only disease that causes that. Add in the rapid breathing, and I'm pretty sure that was the issue.

Internal Uronema is NOT treatable, despite what you'll read online. External Uronema, the kind that infects seahorses and sea dragons can be treated with chloroquine. Chloroquine may also help keep the issue from spreading, but really, Uronema is not very, if at all, contagious.

Appreciate that insight. I’m glad it’s not contagious, and the lesions hadn’t broke the skin but visible. It looked the same as what happened to two of my anthias and a couple coris wrasse so I was confident it was that but not certain. The other 3 fish in QT are healthy and fat with zero detectable issues, so hopefully they make it through.
