Use of calcium chloride to accelerate curing of diy frag plugs

Would the use of calcium chloride when making diy frag plugs with cement and sand reduce curing time? Would there be any side effects?

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
