So @Humblefish and @melypr1985 gave me some great info and tips in using bio balls in my qt but in doing some more research I now have some more questions and want to knw if anyone else ever used them in a QT.

I got some today and will let them sit in stability for a few days then throw them in my hob filter.
I read that they have to be cleaned every so often but wont that remove the beneficial bacteria that it has?

I keep a couple bioballs in my sump for that reason also plus there like little copepod condos i shake em off in my girls mandarin tank its acually awesome and yea just rinse em in saltwater to get all the crud off them dosnt harm bacteria

Ohh ok so its more of a rinse then wash... Ok thanks. How often do you usually have to do that or would you just knw by looking at them that they need to be rinsed off?

They turn into a glob after 2 3 months i have them floating before my bubble trap, yea quick rinse
