Using Brightwell X-port Bio Block

Put in 4 of the 1.5” bio block cubes in my sump after seeding with bacteria and soaking in a container for 24 hours. Protein Skimmer is going crazy. I googled what was happening and read a past post of these being a culprit to a significant reef decline. I’m not too concerned with managing the over active skimmer, just feeling worried something detrimental could happen. Thought I would try them as what I read from Brightwells description sounded beneficial. Sometimes I’m a sucker for things I don’t really need, but get drawn to the manufacturer claims. Put some pretty cool things in my tank over the last month, so I just want to play it safe as I’m really liking where things are now since starting in July this year. Anybody experience bad results with these?

I've had 2 of the large bricks in my sump for a long time with no issues. I frequently recommend these over alternatives because many of the alternatives have had issues with aluminum leaching.

Appreciate the word on leaching aluminum. Going to keep an eye on it, probably do an ICP test soon to check the aluminum level if I do not decide to rid of them pronto. I have an icecap brick in my refugium that’s been great in use.

Have 4 bricks 5+ years tons of surface area for water processors.
No issues.
