Using ext skimmer in sump

So I have a reef Octopus regal 300 external skimmer and on BRS it says it can be run internally or externally. Do I just sit the whole thing in the sump like I would an internal? I feel like this is a dumb question but @ $1100 I can’t afford to ruin it.

Just place it in the sump and you are good to go. No dumb questions here.
