Thank you for sharing, that will be awesome but I don't see that happening, in the meantime if thrusters companies come to know that we are using these for aquarium, cost might go up or the will come with out of the box design

How are thrusters holding up after these years. What are cons? How did the cage hold up? Any metals leaching?

Thrusters are holding up fine, T500 are going strong and T200 thruster I had to change the rotor on 1 of the thrusters due to piece of rock causing damage to epoxy and it got jammed, bought rotor for 52 bucks and cleaned both t200 and working fine now, cons not many choices of mounting these thrusters in reef tanks, most of the options are to 3d print the cages and magnet holder etc. pros are that these provide more than enough flow, replacement parts are cheaper and don't breakdown as much as my mp60 did when I was using them,

Id say pros:
- power
- cost
Cons:
- can be loud
- good bit of DIY needed (mostly in mounting/electronics)
- The unit I used had significant corrosion issues, so buyer beware


I want to try out one of those perimeter drive units mentioned earlier in this thread. Cost is scaring me off right now. A unit with fully encapsulated magnets and minimal metal would be ideal.
