UV sterilizer

I had a battle with dinos almost 2 weeks ago and it appears to have won. Not seen dinos since, I keep my newly acquired UV sterilizer on from 30 minutes post lights out, until they come back on. The UV sterilizer is running for 8 and a half hours every night.

My question is are their any down sides to keeping it running for so long? and what would be the recommended time to keep it running?

Sometimes I keep mine on 24/7. I turn it off when I add copepods and when I add phytoplankton. But it is usually on 24/7
