Hi,
I have been thinking lately about my theoretical dream tank, with thousands of gallons of saltwater hehe.
As I have learned over this past year, a medium sized refugium full of Cheato and Triton supplements with a large Kessil grow lamp is very very effective at removing Phosphate and nitrates from the water column. Perhaps even TOO effective, leading to my tank having zero phos/zero nitrates for a while causing a long battle with Dinos. Now in most cases the refugium is in the sump and so flow through the refugium is just dictated by the flow of the return pump but...
I was wondering if anyone had a large refugium in a separate tank plumbed through on a variable pump (like a vectra M2, adjustable flow from 1% to 100%). This would allow one to theorethically adjust flow to nutrient levels and perfectly "dial in" the refugium to desired Nitrate and phospahte levels (non-zero).
Anyone have thoughts about such a setup?
