I noticed this snail wasn’t moving for a couple days and found this neat perfectly round 2mm hole all the way through it’s shell? Did this snail get into a gun fight? I have had 2 more snails die over the last 3 months but I did not inspect the shell could this be a critter boring a hole?

Dnu what it could be but whatever it is i wouldn't want it in my tank if it can do that to a snail shell i just have a hitch hiking crab that hides inside the rocks comes out at night to do its damage

My thoughts as well. Web search doesn’t help.

This is crazy! I have had this odd snail for years and it’s always hitch a ride on bigger snails for weeks at a time!

is this the culprit?

The suspect snail I found does not entirely look like a whelk but is it just a coincidence that I have always seen it hitching a ride on other snails? Something had to make that hole in that trochus.
