Got some questions!

I bought my vodka today for my tank, and I need to do my dosing stuff now.

I am not sure how much I need to dose, and how to calculate it.

I have a 125 tank, and thats really about all I know I need to give you guys to help me!

Just let me know!

Interesting, well,Im starting tomorrow on this and I hope it works out well for me!

Just follow the instructions and test often. It will work out just fine : )

I followed instructions and it worked well for me, never had a no3 issue but worked well helping with gha and po4

I need to try it for ridding of this little alage I have, its not a big deal, but its annoying and not harmful, but really annoying!

fwiw, imo, vodka and carbon dosing are a little more invloved than jus tossing some vodka in your tank and need to be heavily researched before even attempting... not sure if you have done this or not, but if you havent, hold off, and research a ton before you do... most use some other form of carbon source as well such as mb7 or something like that, as vodka alone seems to cause problems with cyano blooms and this will need to be combated and taken into consideration as well... either way and regardless, GL!

Yeah you might want to kick in the mb7 for 2 weeks before jumping Into vodka.... Check out sonnyx thread and his site iirc I followed those guide lines and have had nothing but sucsess...:)

Great!Just something else to order!haha!Ill get it...

Just follow the instructions on melevs reef and you should have no problems

I had old bulbs and started vodka then cyano was a problem for 4 months before I kicked it.

Like all the others said do it slowly.

Ive read alot on it,but nevergot around to it,then I forgot alot about it,lol...thats why I asked this question!lol

Absolutely, READ READ READ before dosing Vodka. Even in the article linked above, it links you to the full article in Reefkeeping Magazine that took the authors months to compile. You need to completely understand what you are doing, and then take your time and follow the dosing schedule precisely.

I dosed vodka in my system for 3 years. It works, but it isn't a quick fix. It allowed me to feed more heavily once it kicked in fully and the water clarity was as good as running Ozone.

Maybe a silly question but with Vodka being distilled from potatoes, grains, grapes, etc. does this matter and if so what would be the best option?

It isn't a silly question. You want triple distilled, 80 proof, no additional flavoring. The article in Reefkeeping magazine discusses this.

Is this something that you would start with a brand new tank or with an established tank? The reason I ask I am about 2 weeks into a cycle of a 75g and find the vodka dosing very interesting and the benefits seem to be worth it.

Just my 2 cents, but the less things you dose, the less problems you will have...
it's like a Dr prescribing antibiotics when there is nothing wrong with you...
use the KISS method...
