I washed my hands with regular soap, and after that i touched something in my tanks water. There was no trace for soap on my hands just the smell of the soap was there. Would that affect anything?

On nano tanks I prefer to use glove or tongs.

If it smells, theres fragrance residue left behind, and oils. Also air freshener are not good for the health of your tank and other critters.

I use dawn dish soap. Have for 20 years. Never had an issue.

Get special tank hand soap that is bare bones on ingredients and unscented. Wash up to your elbows at least 30 minutes before hands in the tank, and be careful what you touch in the meantime.

I agree, the smaller the tank the bigger the risk.

I also use dawn dishsoap, I wash, dry, hands in tank pretty quickly... I have never waited 30 minutes.

Some of these things we just have to do the best we can. I tried wearing gloves, hated it. Now I only really wear gloves if I'm moving rocks.... even then, I think these thin gloves won't help much.

I agree. Your milage may vary. Especially if you are a plumber or a mechanic.

My wife with the help of bath and body works have been systematically trying to kill this tank for 2 years now. I have washed my hands with that smell good several times and mistakenly went in the tank with no ill effect. Seems like the orange antibacterial Palmolive leaves very little if any smell and residue.
