I will soon be attempting saltwater keeping this tank for years makes me feel more confident and I think keeping freshwater first helps with confidence while walking into a store looking for saltwater equipment.

I think you are ready. I personally dont think you have to have prior experience. As long as you read, research and take it as slow as possible (patience) and not overcomplicate things, you should be fine
