Watchmen goby odd coloring splotchy

Hey everybody. So ever since I’ve got my Goby about three weeks ago I’ve noticed it has this weird patchy discoloration. I’m really hesitant to use that word because I feel like there could be concerns about this being a disease, but it looks like it’s some sort of opacity that happens on both sides of his mid torso. When I went back to the local fish store the other watchman Gobi they had also had a very similar discoloration and they said it was just immaturity. He is very small and has established his home under a rock, he eats fine, and he’s also a lot more active than I was expecting. He kind of swims on each side of the tank and hangs out and about occasionally fighting with his reflection or swimming around mid tank.

So I don’t know how hardy they are if they do have sicknesses, but I was told that he was pre-treated with copper. I have a pair of Clownfish, which are doing great and three invertebrates, including a pistol shrimp.

I’d keep an eye on him, sometimes it can just be from new environment. Is he eating? Behavior normal? Also sometimes copper can be hard on them and cause it.

Yes, I think he’s acting normal from what I think normal may be. He eats really well.fights with his reflection, swims on the sand bed, but then also goes to his little hole occasionally. From what I was reading, it could be possible that they color shift when they’re immature and also the blue light makes that more obvious but just wanted to see if anybody else had some insight.

OK, there have been no significant changes other than I think the watchmen has paired with the pistol shrimp. He now has a burrow under a rock which I’m happy about, there has been no worsening of the splothyness, but it’s definitely still there on the left side.
