I got the green light to finish part of the basement for a fish room! (contingent on also making room for the laundry and dry storage to be in a finished room rather than always covered in sawdust). I started about a month ago and now am to the point where I can start the actual fish stuff instead of just construction. Here are a few progress pics from the start.

Also wanted to give a big shout out to @SpectraPureInc, @Daniel@R2R and @slief who set me up after I won the giveaway here on R2R a couple months back. That really kicked me into gear to get this done!

Looks great! How big will the fish room be?

Thanks! I get most of the room for fish stuff. Planning on two 50 gallon containers for RODI and saltwater, shelving and a bench for storage/fish related things and hopefully a frag tank at some point. I was able to add a sink down there as well.

Question - I rinsed out the containers with vinegar and water. How do I know if they are clean enough? Should fill with RODI and see if it is still 0 tds? Didnt want to waste all that water though..

Half plumbed and testing. Water coming out is 0 tds but in the container is 6 tds. Emptied it out and will try again. Hopefully just had to flush out some leftovers from shipping and drilling.

It looks like it's coming along nice! See if you have a brush long enough to scrub the sidewalls for your vinegar rinse. That might help remove some of the production residue lining the inside of the tanks.

Very nice work! Totally jealous! One thing to keep in mind is that water at 0 TDS gets hungry and will pick stuff up quick. So, if the top was off and it was exposed to air it could have gone up a few ppm.

I used a spray bottle of vinegar and rinsed with the garden hose. I didn't have a brush but I used a rubber band and a towel on a piece of schedule 40 to try and wipe down the inside. I am hoping all it needed was that final flush with some ro water.

Filling up! Had a few small hiccups with the plumbing, but hoping to see no leaks today.

Got a bench built for the future frag tank and storage. Most fish stuff moved in, just need to find home for everything.

Got some corals moved down. Also had my pair of clowns that were nipping at my clam in the dt so they were moved down into timeout for now
