I have a 175 gallon system and am using a hygger hg102 heater. It’s kept the temp perfect for 4 weeks now but last night I noticed the temp dropped to 73. It’s not rising. There’s no error codes and the heater display is on like everything is working properly. I placed a smaller backup heater in and have it up to 75. Inspected the hygger and nothing seems off about it.

Is the heater itself only 4 weeks old?

Is the heater getting hot? I just hold them in my hand to make sure they are actually heating even if the controller shows it is. Could be a defective heater. I always keep several heaters and a controller or two laying around. Heater failures are quite common. Good thing is that temp isn't low enough to hurt anything and low is much better than too high.
