Hello guys I’m new to the saltwater industry. I’m starting off with a Fluval flex 15 gallons. I was wondering what is the best brand of saltwater testers?
For right now I’m just doing live rock and fish.

Hi, what is it that you are looking to test? Is there anything specific or just a general test kit for a FOWLR tank?

Since it’s only be fish and live rock for right now. I need to test for pH, Alkalinity, Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate.

I should start off by saying that if you speak to 100 tank owners on this subject you’ll probably have 100 different answers so please take this as my own opinion. I use a standard API saltwater master test kit that lets me monitor ph, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate, it’s not expensive and gives clear results. I’ve had my water tested by an LFS on their eye wateringly expensive tester and the results have been pretty close which has given me confidence in the API readings. I use a Salifert stand alone test for phosphate. My fish and nems are all healthy and happy so I’m happy with my choice.

I’ve never had the need for testing alkalinity with my setup, reef testing requires further tests which I’ll leave someone with more experience to answer but at the moment your tank has the same requirements as mine. Hope it helps
