Started to build my cabinet today almost finished I’ll add some photos once it’s done

Overall im happy with the cabinet will be nice when its fully completed

Next I will be fitting my UV to the cabinet.
And i want to fit my Apex and KHG, im thinking i will make a inset panel on one side so i can mount everything to it

Also I want to put a shelf in one side for my dosers

so i tried to build my cabinet today unfortunately one of the side panels was machined incorrectly looks like they put it in the machine upside down the rest of the cabinet went together ok the finish is nice no damage however the doors on the left side seem a bit low they may have been slightly machined wrong

Spoke to the Aussie distributor he was great they are sending a replacement panel out express for me i should have it in 4-5 days

Overall im happy with the cabinet will be nice when its fully completed

The pentair UV fits well on the back of the cabinet ill have to remove the unit for service but I dont mind its easy to get to and the brackets it came with make it easy to remove im leaning towards plumbing you UV directly in to the tank with its own pump which will create a redundancy in case my return pump dies when I plumb it up ill have a look and see what it looks like

So ive been trying to organise where all my equipment will go its been a bit of a mission im over thinking it so today I picked a layout and I sent it lol

Power bars will be mounted to the rear of the panel i made it as an internal door so I will still be able to access my power bars

I will be mounting all power packs to the walls of the cabinet and using cable ducting to run cables hopefully thae are long enough

I decided to do a dry side and a wet side as I have to compartments either side of the sump compartment wet is on the right and will contain my RO, dosers, and KHG

The door and side panel has been removed for access

wow i love the apex lol and the tank is not even on the cabinet yet.The best part is everything has been done before and you tube is my friend.

I purchased a few things to make a breakout box and also hook up some cabinet lighting.

Im running some LED strips from the variable speed on the base unit frees up the power board and works a treat I will be mounting a magnetic reed switch to a cabinet door to light up my sump i know its basic but I love it lol

I will be running a skimmer cut off too i need to find a reactor to drain my skimmer to and install a float switch to be done at a later date

Purchase list For breakout box and cabinet lights
Mini din 8 pin male plug ( a male to male cable would be easier but I couldn't get one and i didnt want to wait cable ill have to order one)
6 x 3.5mm mono sockets
6 x 3.5mm mono jacks
A 0-10v led dimming controller
I used cat 6 cable as I have some on hand
Heat srink
magnetic Reed switch x 3
Led strip light ip67 rated
12v 4 A power supply and suitable socket

Hardest part was soldering the mini din plug i need some cables

There is a heap of videos online on how to do this but if anyone is interested or stuck let me know ill do my best to help

Ill get better photos tomorrow as its getting late here and I still need to run my cable duct through the cabinet

So i have installed my cabinet lights im pretty happy with the result, I only have one magnetic reed switch on the centre door i was going to do one for each door but that will take up extra breakout box switches i can add more later or get a normally open reed switches

I have also installed data cable from the wet side of cabinet to the dry side so i can connect my KHG to my apex on the opposite sides of tank cabinet and also put in a Ethernet cable so i can have internet on the wetside. i will have a 4 port switch in the dry side for future expansion.

I have installed cable duct on the rear of the cabinet i have one for sensors and switches and one for power ive tried to think ahead of what i will need but its very hard.

I am in the process of trial fitting of my powerpacks in the dryside of cabinet and working out where everything will fit o_O
After trial fit i will pant the panels and work out how to mount them to cabinet.

ok so finally my tank goes on tomorrow its been slow due to COV19 and waiting on equipment to arrive.
Still waiting on a few things like my extra PM1 module ( for KHG) and 2 inch flow meter for return pump.

I painted the equipment boards in my dry side and mounted power packs im leaving the centre clear for either a calcium reactor or a trident.
The Equipment board still looks bare but a MP60 and 2 reefwaves still need to be mounted.
I have test fitted my plumbing for my UV i will draw water from the return section of my sump with a aquamedic dc pump as I will be able to control it from my apex I have also fitted a flow meter to the UV.
I will have one leak detector in sump , one on floor behind cabinet and one just under the UV.
Also I will have a high and low water optical sensor in sump and a float switch on my skimmer cup.

Filled the tank with RODI and let it get to temp then added salt.

I had 2 marine pure blocks cycling in my garage with some other rock so i put that straight in tank.

I also added one of my rock scape pieces but I want to change the other one so ill do that in the next day or so and add it

So I added the rest of my scape and I also mapped my par in the tank with a apogee mq510 I’m pretty happy with it. The par isn’t too bad but I am planning on adding a couple more lights down the line.
KHG is connected and running my Alk is a bit higher then I like I usually run at 7.5 so I’ll need to let it drop before I add my coral, then I will be doing a 46 day fallow at minimum 27 deg c then I will slowly lower the temp and TTM my fish across to their new home.

Did you end up installing the Clarisea? Any tips on removing the baffles so it would fit?

Yeah I installed it however the flow is pushing the clarisea to the max I may have to get a x-filter or modify the clarisea.
as for removing the baffles I just used a craft knife with a thin blade and I was able to work it between the sock holder and the glass panel only took about 20 minutes total to remove both sock holders and the glass baffles.

Great build thread and man that par is cranking!

Is this going to be an sps dominant tank?

We have a WB220.6 and love what you have done with the scape!!!
