Hello All,

Here is my first build thread.

Tank: Waterbox Frag 55 Gallon with black Cabinet.

Took be two days to do the cabinet, work, family, kids, it takes time.

I am on day 3, and its still not setup, but I did unbox the sump and tank last night. lol.

Equipment:

Pump: Hydor Seltz D DC Pump 1000GPH

I wanted DC so I could control the flow, and bought a big one, so I don't run it at 100% all the time.

ATO: Duetto ATO

Aquatop Titanium Heater 300 watts

Lights: AI Hydra 32HD

Wave Pump: Nero 3

For water testing:

Red Sea Foundation Pro kit
API Salwater Matster Kit
Sybon Salinity Refractometer.

Rocks: about 45 pounds of Marcorocks, not sure if I need more, as I am 10 pounds short of my 55 gallon total.

I am hoping to get the sump in and the aquarium on top today and work on the plumbing. Hopefully get some water going tonight. I am planning on doing the salt myself, as this is my first ever salt water tank.

Time to play.

Also, did not realize how heavy the display tank is, going to need to call in reinforcements to get the tank up on the cabinet.

I ordered the same tank this past Saturday. My first reef tank so gleaning all the info I can. Good luck with your build! Are you planning on a protein skimmer? Curious which ones fit this sump.

I do want a skimmer, but since this is my first tank ever. Taking my time. If I get grip on what I am doing with what I have now. Then I can look at getting a skimmer. I am not doing a whole lot of live stock to start. Mainly wanted to try to easy corals and few hardy fish.... Keep it easy for a while.

Tank has been up for about a week now.

Also did not like the rat nest of the wires, so I got creative and used the crate box the aquarium was sent and built me a control board. Could not find a cabinet yet, so will wait and make another board when I find one. This works for now.

Happy with my results so far.

I almost used the crate for my controller board myself. This is awesome recycling! Awesome work!
Honestly I believe you should start looking to select a skimmer that can help with nutrient export. You do not have to run it all the time but it can be an integral part of the success in this hobby. Following :)

Have not posted pics of the tank since January. Ups and downs, still here. Think I am getting the hang of this.

Looks good to me! I started my Frag 55 4 months ago. Been battling a bad outbreak of GHA and some bubble algae. Been a tough journey so far but I am learning and the tank is starting to look better.
