Waterbox Mini Pen 15, 25 or Cube 10 return pump

I’m really hoping you see this as I also recently got the waterbox 15 pen. The pump I got was super small so I immediately planned on getting the sicce 0.5. One thing I’m worried about is if the return hose is big enough? What do you think?

If I remember correctly, the hose fit right on the Sicce 0.5. I just went and looked on the shelf at my WB Pen 15 and it looks like the original hose.

Edit, I just looked at your photos, that is not the pump or hose that came with my WB Pen 15. That tubing looks to be too small for the Sicce. In fact that looks more like an ATO pump than a return pump.

I have a corallife 14gal bio cube. People have recommended the lifeguard aquatics Quiet One DC Pump 185 GPH 6.6 feet Head and with Controller.

I’m assuming it will fit the waterbox nano sizes also

I have not tried it yet, but the reviews are positive.

The elbow and bulkhead fitting also need to be the correct sizes. The rear of the elbow needs to match the hose.

Here are shots of the hose, elbow and bulkhead that came with my WB Pen 15. The nozzle is different however as I replaced the flair nozzle with an RFG. My hose is either 12mm or 13mm and fits onto the smaller barb on a Sicce 0.5 or eve a 1.0.

Buying a new hose is easy as you can buy a 1/2" hose through one of the online retailers or even most LFSs. The problem is having a matching elbow and bulkhead fitting.

So…after consulting the forum, the newer versions of the 15 pen aren’t very well suited for saltwater…BUT! With these items i was recommended, I think it’ll work.

So what do you think? Will the hosing fit in the sicce .5?

I would not go that route.

I would buy the replacement nozzle for the Pen 25 from WB

a Sicce 0.5 and a foot of 1/2" hose.

The kit you listed will work but there is no need to use an over the wall return when the backwall is already drilled. You would want to plug the hole anyway if you went over the wall.

See, thats why I was suggested, but it turns out it can’t fit the newer 15. The hole they drill nowadays is suuuper tiny.

Then I guess you've got no choice. What you listed will work. Too bad they did that to the tanks. I would have easily recommended a Cube 10 or 15 for a Nano but not now. Let me know how it works out.

Yeahhh. One thing tho, can the sicce 0.5 fit 3/4” tubing? The U pipe available can only take a 3/4” hose.

Yes but it is not ideal. The barb fitting is a two step but it is metric. The smaller one is a little tight on 1/2" (it is actually about 12.75mm) and the larger is a little loose on 3/4" (actually about 17.75mm ). I have used it with 3/4" but I wrapped some tape around the barbs. A good hose clamp will also work.

I'm using a Sicce 0.5 with my UV Clarifier with 3/4" tubing on my lagoon 100. Because of where it sits in my tank, I designed a 3/4" barb to fit the Sicce and 3d-printed it.

Ooooo nice! I’ve also seen people use rubber bands to get their hoses to fit? Either way, I’ll get some hose clamps. Thank you!
