Hi guys, new here but I just wanted to know what you guys think..my tank is a mini reef 120 aqua one. iv been having issues(I think) I feel my power head is too much as i find it hard to place my softies(gonies, hammers, elegance etc) .. I had a jabeo wavemaker but that died a year ago so I bought a tunze nano stream 6015 and now I feel no matter where I place it there’s always so much flow and as you can see in my photos I’m building a zoa garden, where that zoa garden is is low-moderate flow. On the right side of tank is all heavy flow and now I’m stuck placing my softies as I have the mountain of zoas where they are…. And suggestions ?
As you can see it’s sorta craming everything In left corner and I don’t like it.

Can you reduce the power of the power head? Never had it before but almost all of them allow for a lower intensity simple solution.

You can point it to the water surface this will reduce it greatly (think you have already done this tho) another option is buy a foam nem guard for it, this will reduce the flow some, or get a 3d printed flow adapter so you can have more control on where the flow is pointed.

So I ended up spending the money and opting for a controlled Wavemaker cost me $220 aud but I’m happy with it, everything is flowing perfectly now :) just sucks I wasted $80 but going to return and get in store credit… More zoas!! Haha

i got the current USA wavemakers their pretty good the app is iffy at times gotta keep resetting it which isnt bad but gets stuck at times their like $160 for two 1050s
i also tried the jabeos their actually really nice but their app is literally horrible so once you setup your done dont mess with it..

i did also try the AI wave makers their AMAZING the app is solid just expesnive as hell...

Point the power head at the glass. Bounce it off the wall and see if that helps.

I have the same one in my biocube.. it’s ALOT of flow for my softies. I have to put it in the back corner and angle it up at the surface diagonally. In hindsight, I wish I would have gotten a controllable one like you ended up with. I also bought a tunze at the same time that was WAY too powerful, and ended up using it to mix my saltwater. Just a thought if you haven’t done that, so it doesn’t seem like a total waste. :winking-face:

Best option to be honest, I didn’t suggest buying a different pump as that was an obvious solution to your issue and I guessed you would have known that. But yeah you took the best option.
