Anyone with with a waterbox peninsula 25 where is the spot you’ve found gives you the best flow with your wave maker? Right now I have it below my overflow at the back of the tank.

Seems like you would want more flow through the overflow gate, and a wave maker placed directly in that area would be counter-intuitive, by reducing and or slowing the volume if water through the overflow gate. The rate of turn over would decrease.
It's very possible I could be wrong though. :)

Before I moved the wave maker under the overflow thoughts were that it pushed crap back towards it but I am probably very wrong

Is your return right above your wavemaker?

I would try putting the wave maker, same height, to the left of the rock structure and point it upwards so it aids in gas exchange at the surface as well.
