Just a dude with some ideas. Built an aquaponics system in my apartment a few years ago just to learn how things work, the chemistry of it, I have a thing for complex systems. I took it down though because it was super jerry rigged and I live in an apartment. Saved money though. Now I'm into this after saving some cash. Got a 25g cube, a fluval marine, surface skimmer/filter some live rock, live sand, bacteria... everything looks good just waiting for the ammonia to crash. So I be sitting here staring at my tank. Kinda thinking of building up step by step... wait for an algae bloom then getting copepods and feeding them until they are everywhere and then getting a fish and a coral but im not sure. I have fun just staring at the rock because I know what the future can bring. Take care and any tips, advice, techniques are appreciated.

Welcome! Glad you joined.

Have you considered starting your build thread? I found its a great place to document my tank's evolution for myself. I started tank first then joined, so I'm still finding myself going back collecting pictures & updating historically as well as current state. Once you create your first post in your thread under Forum > Member Aquariums and link it to your account, they will give you build badge (look left, under my ID)

This might help you find people local to you in Parma Heights:

This is a good reference book type online article I still review:

Pods are very easy even outside your tank - I do the lazy easy banana skin method in a beverage container (think picnic):

Thanks for the tips. Yea, Ill do the build thing sooner rather than later. Just snooping around the site at the moment. Ive never participated or been involved with a forum site other than reading random things on them. So getting used to the thing as a whole and seeing what I can absorb at the moment. Ive been obsessed with this stuff for a while and finally got something going. Plus Ive pretty much consumed every youtube video out there..... Yea the Pods seems easy and culturing phyto does as well. So much to do, grow and buy. Thank you for the links!

Hi and welcome to R2R! You’ll find that people here are friendly, knowledgeable, and ready to help. We’re glad you joined! Hopefully you’ll start a build thread so we can see your reef as it progresses.

You’ll also find that reefing is much more fun than aquaponics. Fishes and corals are much more interesting both from the ecosystem perspective and the behavioral side of things too. Reef tanks are after all one of the most complex systems you could hope for.

Wow! Everyone is awesome! Thank you so much for the warm welcomes. When I make a build thread I will make sure to provide a link so everyone who wants to follow can. Ill probably get to it tommorrow or sometime this weekend. I already have pics of the tank and a fairly comprehensive IDEA of what I want to do when it comes to breadth but, ya know, details. I will for sure keep everyone up to date because my first tank won't be my last tank. Thank you so much everyone but I needs to gets backs to ma reedin.
