I’ve been in the hobby for a while but this is my first time being active on the forums. Figured the recovery arc was a good enough reason to finally introduce myself.
Short version: I crashed my tank. Lost 51 corals and almost every fish. Two survivors made it out, a clownfish and a damsel my daughter named Kelly and Johnson. I don’t know how Johnson made it honestly. That fish is just built different.
I rebuilt from scratch on a budget. 90 gallon Aqueon, live rock sump, no skimmer, PopBloom RL115s on a custom cedar shelf I built myself. The tank is LPS dominant with torches, hammers, frogspawn, alveopora, softies, and some montipora encrusting scattered across the rockwork. Parameters are stable and the tank is finally starting to look like something again.
The tank crashed from moving it from an upstairs apartment to a house, and not informing myself on the potential consequences of the move… I fought and battled for a couple months as everything died off.
Happy to be here. Looking forward to actually being part of the community instead of just stealing information and leaving!
I also run an Instagram documenting the recovery if anyone wants to follow along. @the_reef_room
