Spent an hour+ reading through your build thread - amazing scape, setup, lighting, DIY skills, and more! Sorry to hear about the SPS crash and glad you’re rebooting. My SPS tank is a little over 3yrs and I’m always concerned about waking up in the morning with white skeletons. Looks like you are surrounded by great reefer friends!

Following along — if you’re bored like me, nem & LPS tanks are cool too! Good luck
Thank you for the kind words and welcome to the thread. I am on the fence right now between nem and LPS or a full blown leather softie tank.

Honestly the SPS crash was so heartbreaking, I felt like I was finally in my stride when it comes to reefkeeping. Watching it wither away was really rough and was almost enough to make me just get out of the hobby. Thankfully only time was really lost, 95% of the coral in the tank, to include lots of high end sps all came from fellow reefers in the area that I have been friends with for 10+ years now. I'm sure they would answer the call should I request some frags again but I don't think my current light setup is there for SPS and I really don't like the idea of fiddeling with it now (I really like the kessils mounted up high). We shall see tho.

Here's how things look as of tonight 1/28/24, water changes, UV, carbon had made for some nice crystal clear water. Hair algae is on the retreat and I expect things to be all but clear in a few weeks.

Also for dosing this time around I am going to give all for reef a try, seen nothing but good reviews.

Still a spectacular setup - keep it up! How about a mixed reef - LPS on the middle (love those designer torches, scans, and hammers) and put some sticks on top? As a center piece: add a ginormous clam or carpet? That’s essentially what I did on my latest tank build and it’s an interesting combo.

Funny you bring that up, it's been awhile since I had a one spot fox, I enjoyed the one I had previously and really glad I decided to give this guy a chance. I had some fan caulerpa that had somehow made it up to the display and had been pretty well taking over a rock to the point that one of my reefer friends that stopped by took one look at it and said "Just reboot the tank, not worth trying to get that out"

Well sure enough that fox face was slurping the caulerpa off the rocks like it was spaghetti within an hour of tank introduction. He's now turned his attention to the hair algae. What a rockstar of a fish.
Yeah I'll never keep a reef without at least one Fox Face. Rockstar indeed.
