Yeah. We went directly to the roaches. Unfortunately, he hasn't eaten any yet. :-( I think we're going to see if he'll eat some mealworms (that's what it looked like they were feeding them at the shop we got him from), and then mix those with the roaches to try and get him to switch over.

So far on names, it looks like it's going to be either Yoda or Pascal. Those are the ones that have been suggested that 1) have kid approval, 2) haven't been vetoed by either me or my wife, and 3) seem to stick.
