The community is definitely what I love the most - R2R is a special place! I also really enjoy the thrill of fish spawning in the space that I provide for them as well as the challenge of pushing into new areas as I seek to continually learn.

Let me start by saying HAPPY VALENTINES DAY to all of you from me and all of Reef2Reef! We love you and value you as a member of our community!

So on a day to celebrate love let's talk about love and more specifically what you love! :) So here is the question for today.

What do you LOVE the most about the saltwater reef aquarium hobby?

What I love most about the hobby is the before and after. I get huge gratification when seeing the results of all the hard work, time, money and even mistakes made in the hobby. The reason I added mistakes is that that is how you learn. If you are unable to listen or believe you never make mistakes then you are no longer able to learn or better your self.

I said relationships. Not the human kind, I mean the relationship between each and every element within the reef, living and not. It goes far beyond the relationships between the living creatures which is fascinating enough on its own. Classic example, the bacteria living inside a rock. That relationship makes the magnificent complicated eco system possible. Everything is connected, no matter how big or small or minuscule it seems, that’s what I love about my reef tank, witnessing that connection and those relationships myself.

fish for me.
don't get me wrong... I love my corals, but I don't think I'd keep a tank of just corals.
if corals weren't available I'd still keep fish.

I chose "All of the above."

My mind is regularly blown by the breadth of knowledge here -- and how generously it is shared.

I can understand how bewildering it might seem for a newer enthusiast, particularly if new to internet forums.

The challenge of designing and maintaining a stable and reliable life support system for a mixed reef is a fun combination of art and science that drives me.

I voted all of it, but the relationships is what makes me me laugh and smile. Even the crabs which they wave to me for food. Of course the Clownfish with any host, but the nems especially.

I have a friend who loves my tank and asks me questions constantly. Even buys me stuff for it, but I cant seem to reel him in on starting up his own lol

I have a friend just like yours. (Does not buy things for me though)
I think he would have taken the plunge but I overwhelmed him.
I started with one tank and sump, that tank leaked and put me through a whirlwind. I now have two big tanks and a Nano, that keep me hopping.
Thats was too much for him, but he now has a 10G FW and looking for something bigger.

In answer to the intended thread question.
ALL OF IT.

I like the neverending knowledge that I get from saltwater inhabitants. I'm truly addicted to the complexity of the hobby, I NEED something that keeps me thinking and problem solving, reefing fulfills my needs.
