Saw these in my sump today when I decided to shine a light on it. Anyone have any idea what they are?

Are they indicative of anything good or bad? I.e. stable tank, excessive nutrients?
Some people view them as an indicator of a healthy ecosystem in the tank.

As long as you don’t have an enormous amount of them, it’s not an indicator of excessive nutrients or anything like that (I’ve only seen one tank where the amount of sponge was concerning and that was with a clearly invasive sponge, so don’t worry, you’re not anywhere near that point). They’re actually quite common in sumps and cryptic (unlit) parts of the tank, such as under or behind rocks.

Great, thank you for your insight
