Iv had that torch, for almost a year and a half doing great good flesh band. For the past few days iv been getting this ODD behavior where part of the heads shrink down, and i noticed this behavior only happens during the day with lights on, during the night, its opening up, tentacles are not shrinked inside the body. My parameters are all the same, i test biweekly, tank is 2 years old (all corals for the most part doing great) par in that area tested at 150-180 par

Alk:8.4
cal:440
Mag:1380
Phosphate:0.26ppm
Nitrate:7.0ppm
Ph:8.2
Temp:78-79F

2 questions,
1st do you have a day and night setting for any of your flow?

2nd when was the last time you cleaned all pumps or moved anything in tank?
Yes i do constant like 30% at night and random in the morning at 50%.. and i havent cleaned my pumps since few months ago

Flow seems to be a bit too strong and going in just one direction.
That flow is definitely not too strong for a torch.

Based on this info, if same pumps for 2 years, you have a night and day mode, and this just started, I would clean the pumps, debris or buildup can cause flow changes. Since corals are happier during night than day and light scheduling is the same, better at night, I would suggest it is a flow issue. Something changed or it has grown and maybe the flow is now just to much.

I like my flow lower than that. If it was too strong in my tank, the polyps retract and you'll notice if the fleshband is shrinking which is a symptom. But if it works for you, keep the flow as is.

You can do the 10 ft test. Move away for about 10ft from the display and observe the fox face if it will nip at it.
I dont think that is common, but if anything a CBB might be more inclined to do that.
