Hello!
I am quite new to reefing, but my dad is teaching me since he's been doing it since the 80s.
However, a pair of clownfish we are keeping has exhibited behavior neither of us has ever seen. (We have had this specific pair for 8 years)
The male and female will be together when suddenly the male lays on his side, and will just lay on the sand hardly moving. Each time he does it we think he's dead, but when we walk up to the glass he gets right up and swims around like normal.
This started a few weeks ago
I will try to get a photo in the future when I can catch him doing it, but does anyone have any ideas of why he could be doing this?

Ive had this before, it could be other things i don't know about but IME it was either an oxygen issue, flukes, or velvet. Have you added anything new in your tank that could have carried diseases?

I dont see this as disease but rather clownfish aggression from likely a larger clown being female in which it intimidates the male, chases it, corners it and steals the food. Its called clownfish hierarchy
Please post a video under white, not blue lighting for best assessment

Its possible it could be flukes, however its unlikely- nothing has been added to the tank in years…I would also be surprised to find it to be aggression as we’ve had this pair for eight years and this wasn’t a problem before
