Can anyone identify this weird growth on my pom pom crab? I hadnt seen it in like 2 days now there is a big red ball on its underside.. Kinda like a salmon egg. Any help in what it could be?

I don't have these guys so I can't be sure but do you have any others? The only think I could guess is maybe eggs?
Thats the only one. I dont have any coral like that so it cant be carrying around my coral. But i did look at pics of pom pom crabs on google and i think they are eggs. I just dont understand how.

That's pretty cool! You said it's not new so I don't know how they would have gotten there

Ive had him. Well i guess her now for almost a month? Unless im about to have like pom pom hermit crab hybrids. But it freaked me out, at first i thought it was like some weird tumor. Lol

After looking online it seems like they can have eggs but not hatch them. It's really unlikely they will survive which is a bummer, but if you did get them fertilized and to have some grow past the couple month point you would have bragging rights of being one of the few people to raise captive bred pom pom crabs!

I guess itll be just hermit food! Glad its no tumor. I hope she doesnt start carrying my coral around. Forgive me!!

Leave her alone, she'll do it a lot. Actually the only time I ever saw mine was when it was carrying eggs every couple months

I have a 10 gal so it may contribute to it but i see her all the time. Mainly when i feed reef food. Its almost automatic she comes out doing her little dance. Shes acctually been hiding more since the eggs.
