Weird thing on coral

I found this white long swirly thing in my green star polyp does anyone know what this is?

That's a feather duster worm of some variety - harmless filter-feeder.

Forgot the name. It's a type of worm that is basically a mini feather duster. Completely harmless. It will remove stuff out of the water.

I've got a kajillion of them.

Ahh ok cool- I want to remove it though be my coral hasn't been opening and I think I know why now

They shouldn't bother corals... did you make shure your levels are good? I have several corals that were/are completely surrounded and are unphased.

The feather duster wouldn't prevent the coral from opening - I'd check for other possible causes.
