If you’re getting 90 psi as I think you said, that’s not a problem, at all

Don’t forget to change this while you’re at it

The information. ~300tds out of the well, 25tds after RO membrane and 0 TDS after two canisters DI resin. Booster pump is getting pressure to 90PSI measured between membrane and resin.
System is the 150GPD.
Problem: I just replaced the tow stages of DI resin and after only making about 50 gallons mi Resin is already depleted halfway up the first canister. Also noticed it looks like it only used a partial of the first canister and started consuming the second canister as you can see from the pictures. This is older resin in the first that has been regenerated a few times so maybe it has lost its color changing ability and the stuff that did change right at the beginning was the new stuff. What are your thoughts on the rapid consumption? CO2?

You need new membranes

Yeah, but this is what makes the unit stop running when the float switch shuts. If it’s not working right then when the float switch turns off the product line the unit keeps running water through it but it all goes out the waste line, and cartridges get used up for no reason.
Good rule of thumb is change flow restrictor and auto shut off valve whenever you change the membrane

Using this calculator
https://www.hamzasreef.com/Contents/Calculators/CO2DIDepletion.php

and entering your numbers, we get

If the water is 15 ppm TDS, the % consumed by CO2 is 13%.
If the water is 30 ppm TDS, the % consumed by CO2 is 7%.

So you won't see a huge improvement by degassing the well water (about a 10% DI lifespan increase).

Ok well thats good news. Hopefully the only issue is the membrane then. Im thinking of running the silicabuster, then the maxcap then a regular BRS Bulk Mixed DI. Does this sound right? Will the silicabuster and maxcap be consumed as fast as my current resin by the CO2 or will it last longer? Of course this will also have the new 99% membrane from spectrapure so I am sure that will improve things a bit.

When you say maxcap, do you mean the RODI unit itself?

Do you have a spectrapure RODI system?

No, I have the BRS system. I assume all these canisters will fit in typical 10" housings and the membranes are the same size as well?

When i say Maxcap I mean the maxcap Super DI. I bought this package with the silicabuster:
https://www.marinedepot.com/SpectraPure®_MaxCap_Super_DI_and_SilicaBuster_Super_DI_Cartridge_Kit_Reverse_Osmosis_Filter_Kit-SpectraPure-SP344061-FIRORPKT-vi.html
Yes, the membrane housings are interchangeable.
I use a spectrapure ro membrane in a melvesreef rro/di system

Do the DI canisters fit in the carbon block housings?
All the 10" canisters (housings) and different carbon blocks and sediment filters and pre-filled di containers should all be interchangeable, from the reputable vendors.

Had to add, as long as they are 10" sediment filter, carbon blocks, and pre-filled di resin containers.

Great info
Gotta love this site

So maxcap, then silicabuster.

Silicabuster is a di resin. So BRS resin after that is not needed, but should last a long time if you put it after the maxcap and silicabuster
