This is a system I took over when it had completely crashed. I don't think I have any pictures left from back then. Basically though, it was nothing but dry reef rock, a couple lionfish, and a few tangs and one foxface all of which were addicted to getting high by sucking on the lionfish spines.

Main display is 400 gallons. The sump holds about another 100 gallons. For filtration we have a protein skimmer, carbon reactors, uv sterilizer, and refugium.

Current fish inhabitants from largest to smallest.
Unicorn Tang
Vlamingi Tang
Sailfin Tang
Heniochus Butterfly
Orange Shoulder Tang
Black Saddleback Clowns (breeding pair)
Blue Hippo Tangs (group of 3)
Yellow Coris Wrasse
Clarkin Clowns(group of 3)
Eibli Angel

All pics taken today, Feb 17, 2019

Thank you very much.
We have been struggling to get the Sailfin to eat enough lately. Not sure what his problem has been as we over-feed the tank to make sure there is no aggression. Recently started adding multiple rounds of roasted nori a day instead of fresh, and he seems to be bulking back up from it. Granted, it's not the healthiest veggies, but he seems to eat way more of them.

Here are pictures of the sump area. I did not design or build this. However, I did want to share. There are quite a few things wrong with the plumbing. This year's project on this system will be to gut all the PVC and replace it with professional work.

Sailfin does look thin. Other fish look good though. Unicorn = blue spine? Haven’t seen a sea apple in a reef tank in awhile. Looks nice.

Yes, he is a blue spine. And thank you. I've always loved Sea Apples, it's definitely one of the most popular creatures in the system. Had the large one for about a year or a little more now.

Sad news. This tank exploded on us. Thankfully nobody was hurt. The problem was caused by the original installer not using a safety mat in between the tank and the steel stand. The building settled over time and caused stress points. We are replacing it and will be adding a sheet of furniture grade plywood between the tank and stand. I have a video of it breaking that I will try to post to YouTube.

I’m very sorry to hear this, on the bright side you get to redo the system and change anything you may want.

The owner rushed putting fish in the tank. So far we are managing though and have kept them alive. A few are starting to look healthier than when they arrived. Rushing fish in before the cycle is complete makes me very nervous. So we've been doing extra water changes and running the protien skimmer overtime. It's going to be interesting adding fish in the future given his choices for initial stocking.
