Hello everyone. Let me start off by saying this will be a failt slow build, sorry in advance. I previously moved into a new residence. All of my fish are set up in a 6 foot 350 gallon swimming pool in the dinning room currently have a skimmer set up, a bio pellet reactor, and one Raidon (30?) to provide some light and keep the corals happy. Occupants currently include 2 semi-orange clowns, 1 mandarin, 1 wrasse (forgot what kind), 2 yellow tangs, 2 differnt Sailfin tangs, 2 Dussumeri tangs, 1 Achilles tang, 1 Gem tang, 1 orange shoulder, 2 fire shrimp, 1 sand sifting starfish, 1 orange Like starfish.

Tank: 8' x 3' x3' arylic
Stand: Alu Fabrication aluminum stand
Canopy: 2x10's stacked with the lighting strung with wire
Sump: Tsunami 9624 sump, with a capacity of 180 gallons
Lighting: three Orphek Atlantik lights
UV light: Lifegaurd 90 watt
Skimmer will likely be a Reef Octo 12" something lol. I used it on my 220 with good results. I have an MRC4 Skimmer, but I can't get the output to seal. Tried some acrylic solvent, but it just won't seal.
Automation: Tunze ATO. Trident setup.

My house is kept relatively warm, and I have three 1000-watt heaters. One of the return pumps will be from the UV, and the other two are normal returns. For now I bought one wavemaker DMP65 from overseas, gonna see how it plays out before buying more. I also have a Maxspec that will work. Theres two gyros.

Rocks! I've been fairly fortunate to buy several batches of Tonga branch rock and some other rock, possibly Pukani? It's currently curing. I used bleach to cure them. The bleach water has been drained off and is being degassed in normal water with lots of dechlorinator. I do have some other rock such are purple Marco and some from Addictive Reef keeping to help build structures.

Fish and corals: As you see I love my tangs. The new tank will continue to be primarily tangs. I do want a set of triggers, possibly the blue throat or pink tail. For corals, I do enjoy a mixed reef tank.

Until the next update!

So things were going so well. The stand was leveled the sump was plumbed in. And then it happened… the front panel popped off gushing out a tsunami of water throughout the house. I don’t believe any of the equipment was damaged but it’s gonna take some time to figure out. I also have to drain the sump. Take the trash acrylic off. Then clean underneath.

oh my god. was the tank new?

we need to know who made that thing and avoid at all costs...

Alright Alright Alright.

About a month ago the new tank came in from Tsunami Aquariums. 630 gallons. It's 96" long, 36" wide, and 42" tall. The tank is a beast with 1.25" side walls. It's plumbed into a Tsunami 150g sump. There are four 7" socks. I've got one pump plumbed into a normal return and the other goes to the UV light then the return.

Aquascaping is a work in progress, I'm mixing live rock from the temporary swimming pool with the dry rock. I want one more scape in the middle but I'm not sure if I should do an arch or what. I've also added Fritz Turbo start about a week ago.

Getting wave maker's has been lovely. I bought a DMP80 hoping it would work on the tank, the walls are just a tad too thick for it. As a result I went with a Tunze Orca and two Vivosun's placed on suction cups. I dropped one of the charges into a freshwater resivor, so I'm waiting on the new one.

Current tanks inhabitant include lots of snails and a lonely clown fish. I plan to add the rest of the crew next month. The lights only come on for a 6 hours. Once the tangs get in I'll adjust it again.

I'm going to do a DIY scrubber soon. Hopefully in the next week. Once the fish are added I'll move the skimmer and pellet reactor over. I have another Lifeguard Turbo XL to add as well.

That's an amazing size tank... along the lines, "Go big, or go home!" Hope to see more of your photos along the way. 👍🏻👍🏻

I'm curious about why you decided on a 42" tall tank? How will you reach the bottom? And also, the 3 1000-Watt heaters. Sorry to see your original Tank failed. Maybe it was the unusual shape and the miters were not cut correctly. Your new Tank looks and fits much better on the stand.

I've got a large pair of snake tongs that I use. I'm tracking the heaters I just forgot to mention them. I did the 42" for more volume. I'd rather have fish over coral. I wasn't super stressed about par hitting anything on the bottom. Lighting is three Orphek Atlitics.

Got the skimmer up and running along with the APEX. Apex seems to be having issues as always. might go the simple route and manually test.

Added a small clean up crew of turbos and astra snails after a few days of the tank running. Last Friday I added the rest of the live rock to the display and sump from the swimming pool. Also moved over the fish to the tank.

Next goal is to build an algae scrubber and add sand sifters and some wrasse. Not sure what I want yet.

Also debating on adding a structure to the middle. So far everyone is happy and eating like pigs. Currently only running the lights a few hours a day. Plan to change the lighting schedule next Friday.

Got the algea scrubber made. Some 1” pipe and some sewing sheets. Waiting on a higher powered red light to come in.

Also figured out nori feeding. 2” pipe made into a U. Plastic mesh helps keep the nori sheets on.
