I have 6 ViParSpectras on a 220 gal. They are at 100% blues and 20% whites, 8 inches above water

Do you think 24” above tank with lenses is way to heigh?

By lenses do you mean the metal plates you hang in addition to the blackboxes themselves? Mine are just the blackboxes hung over the tank.

300w viparspectra
13" above the water. 16" deep 40b.
60% blues on for 12 hours
6% white on for 8 hours
Blues run 2 hours before/after whites.
Lenses ON

3 160 w viparspectras
15" above the water.
22" deep 125 g.
60% blues on for 12 hours
7% white on for 8 hours
Blues run 2 hours before/after whites.
Lenses ON

Will prob. go to 70% blue/10-15% white eventually

Evergrow, 14" off the water. 60% blue, 15% white. Swapped all the lenses for 120° ones. Blues are on 10 hours, whites run in the middle for 5 hours.

IMO, 24” is not too high for Blackboxes configured with individual lenses, in contrast to multi led under one lense.

Most CBB push good intensity so you have room.
See where you get the height and little spill.

I get a better blend when these lights mounted higher.
These are 20”

If you go too high, they may spill too much when your sitting and be uncomfortable on your eyes, or just throw way too much light outside the glass.

Mine is a black box kinda, but its the one with the built in timer, and sunrise/sunset. Its an Evergrow IT2060 which I think is the same as the old version of the Reef Breeders Photon 24. I have it over a 40 breeder, and the max it ramps up to is 35% blue, 5% whites, its on from 10am till 8pm, moonlights from 8pm to 11pm. Its growing leathers and gsp fine, I dont know if I should turn it up more or not. Its been like this for the past 8 months, still have the lenses on, and using the stock legs it came with.

I have a 165W willis aquarium light blackbox hung 13" above my standard 20 gallon, whites set to 20%, blues set to 65%. I have no par meter. Does this sound/look good?
