What am I doing wrong with my coral?

it looks like it is getting blasted with light and bleaching. I would move it to the side of the tank to get lower par and let it recover a bit
I just moved it back down again. I thought it wasn't getting enough. Thanks poor guy is going up and down and no matter what I do he's getting worse everyday. He's not going to make it that I can tell. He's going to fast.

It definitely appears to be bleaching around those edges. Could definitely be too much light. I have a couple of same/similar montis and they’re mid way down in my tank. What’s the Alk reading?

Also bleaching means there is still flesh and the coral bailed out its zoo, to me it looks like it is rtn or stn.

Maybe rtn is what people mean though.

A bleached coral can simply color up again with good care and not have any tissue loss. Yours is definitely losing tissue though.

Tank just looks too new to me. SPS often hate new white rocks without a spec of diversity or coralline.
I got through the ugly faze. My son has the same coral and started a month before me his it's doing great. God knows what is really going on.

I will check in the morning. Yeah I think it is bleaching but makes no sense with it being low for most part. But then I put it high because I thought he wasn't getting enough light but turned the light down. I was losing him anyways. Just tried all I knew to do and googled.

Yep tissue is going fast everyday. Another 3 days it will be all gone. I just didn't know if maybe I was missing something.

Really not sure how anybody gave some reliable advice without a better picture.

I can't tell if that flesh is peeling off or if it's bleaching, those are two different things.

Can you get a close up picture of the coral in some white light so we can really get a better look at the detail.

It's to late.
That looks like flesh is peeling off,

Was it in the way of a powerhead?

Why is it too late? I still see flesh on it.

Edit:

Anyway, to save that you'd have to cut all the dead parts off even into the living flesh a little. That's only to preserve the living flesh and not whatever bacteria that's eating the flesh. The bacteria is eating it right at the Mason-Dixon line.

You'll be good if you can report all your parameters again. And if you have any kind of a par meter maybe you can post that. That Coral is Brown, probably got too much light.

Thank you that is the best advice I have gotten. I will do that immediately. Maybe there's hope. Thank you so much...I'm truly grateful.

The coral is not hard but mushy which I found shocking. Thought it would be hard. I'll keep you posted on what happens. He is not in high light anymore not was he when this started and not in flow either.

Okay, keep us posted. Now I'm real curious.

Well darn you know what your talking about! I did as you said and I hardly have anything left but two small pieces and lost no more since I cut it back. It stopped losing its flesh and will only take 30 years to get to the two inches I had before...lol. Thank you so much....really. We saved a life...;)

Your very welcome! Thank you for the kind words.
I've been in the situation before, I just need to learn how 'not to' be there, lol.
