Why are my clowns just sitting there bobbing at the top? Are they trying to sleep?

They are simply ‘hosting’ that corner of the tank. Or more correctly looking for a host and temporarily setting up home in that corner. Clownfish are very territory driven and need to find a home. For the moment that corner of the tank is it. Mine did exactly the same thing the first time they went into my tank.

They swim the tank all day, so I was nervous I was watching them die together or something. That’s good to know. Soon I plan to get something they can host in together.

I hated that when i first got mine. He "died" every night for the first week i had him until he found "his" xenia. I remember poking him and he swam off all annoyed that i woke him up the first night.
He still "dies" every night but now he locks himself into the xenia polyps and stays there till morning.
Ive had him just over a yr now and he still does it. Its super alarming but its how they sleep.

That is to funny!! Lol my clown just hovers in the bottom right corner of any tank he’s been in. It’s funny how he does that tank to tank.

That is really funny / so cute. Good to know they're only hosting the corner. I was so scared I was watching it die the other night lol. They're light dogs, I'll have the light on during the day and as soon as I shut the light off, the firefish comes out of hiding and the clowns go to the corner asap.
